Dr Tahir Rasheed

Dr. Tahir Rasheed is the CEO of Balochistan Rural Support Programme. As a development practitioner with multi-disciplinary educational qualifications in the fields of Anthropology, Rural Development and Forestry, Mr. Tahir Rasheed has an experience of 32 years in the field of rural development, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation. Prior to his present assignment as CEO of BRSP, he was engaged with WWF-PAKISTAN as Director of Wildlife/regional Head Sindh and Balochistan, CEO of South Punjab Forest Company, General Manager of LEAD Pakistan, National Project Manager UNDP, CEO of Sustainable Use Specialist Group Central Asia, Head WWF-PAKISTAN. Moreover, he has been involved in conducting a number of socio-ecological studies, developing policy documents (management plans, development and conservation plans, manuals, etc.), and also provided professional inputs to WWF Indo-China Vietnam, a conservation-based organisation in Afghanistan and Kalpavriksh, India in formulating Environmental Education Strategy, and a national report on Community Conserved Areas of Pakistan. Simultaneously, he has been serving as a master trainer in the field of environment and development for governmental and non-governmental institutions. He is keen on protecting bio-diversity, empowering grassroots organisations, and sustainable management of natural resources. He is also concerned with the linkages between the environment and development and the way international negotiations affect indigenous communities.
